WE ARE indigo.

A Chicago-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit race team built on competition, community, and the belief that cycling should be accessible to everyone. We compete across the Midwest, but what drives us goes beyond results.

// BEGINNINGS & MISSION

GO FAST. BE KIND.

Indigo started the way most good things do — a group of friends who wanted to do something they loved together. The racing and cycling scene can feel like it wasn't built for everyone. We're hoping to change that.

Indigo was created to be a competitive team where you don't have to soften who you are to fit in. We push each other. We cheer each other on. We eat together after races. None of us are pros, just here for the love of it.

Our mission as a team is to create a competitive road and gravel cycling team of friends and upstanding members of the Chicago cycling community. To us, cycling is not just about chasing records or striving for podium finishes. It's about the camaraderie, the shared stories, and the joy of the journey. We firmly believe that everyone, regardless of skill level or experience, should feel welcomed and valued within the cycling community.

// HOW WE OPERATE

RACE. RIDE. GIVE BACK.

Our race calendar runs from spring road racing through cyclocross season in the fall — with gravel events woven throughout. We race as a team, travel together, and make a lot of noise on the sidelines.

Between race weekends, we host a few group rides and events that are open to the whole Chicago cycling community. From chill community rides to faster-paced crit practices, we try to ensure all feel welcome, no matter your level.

As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, our financial obligations go beyond operating costs. Proceeds from merch, donations, and sponsorships flow directly back into our grant programs — funding the riders who need it most to compete.

Record paracyclist support

In 2025 we helped fund a record number of paracyclist grantees at Barry Roubaix and Rough Road — two of the Midwest's popular gravel events.

Community on the bike

Eight events across the season — group rides, practice crits, pre-ride shakeouts, and community meetups that brought Chicago cyclists together all year long.

// GRANT PROGRAM

THE STARTING LINE SHOULD BE ACCESSIBLE.

The cost of racing — entries, travel, kit, gear — is a genuine barrier for a lot of riders who belong at the start line just as much as anyone else. Our Race Grant program exists to help lower that barrier.

We provide direct financial support to BIPOC, FTW, and paracyclists entering competitive racing across the Midwest. Grants can cover entry fees, travel, gear, coaching — anything that gets you to the line.

Applications are rolling each season and reviewed personally by our leadership team. If you’re on the fence about whether you qualify, apply anyway.

// SUPPORT THE PROGRAM

Our grant program runs on donations. Every dollar goes directly to getting more riders to the start line.
